Fairfield Stags

New studies show, eating laundry detergent is bad for you… Why was that ever a thing…

In all seriousness, making the move to college is an exciting experience. We hope your transition is as smooth as possible. To help with the burden we hope to clear up all the confusion with helpful laundry tips and tricks

Learn how laundry is done. Keep your clothes clean. Get good grades. Save the world. Let’s dive in!

Laundry Must-Haves

Whether you’re coming at this with totally no laundry experience or years of doing your family’s, we hope the following tips helpful.

Before you write down your laundry must-haves, you first have to know where you’re going to do your laundry. Questions you need to ask yourself:

  • Does your dorm have a washing machine?
  • If not, are there laundromats nearby?
  • Can you afford a laundry pickup and delivery service?

If none of these sound appealing, you can always buy a washboard. Have clean clothes and get a work out in!

Once you have a plan, then you can move into the must-haves.

Must-haves:

  • Hamper
  • Laundry detergent
  • Fabric softener

Boom, that’s it. Pretty simple. Remember, once you get into the habits of this, having each of these on hand will be second nature. You won’t have a system down right away, but after the second and third load all of this will be a piece of cake

How often to do Laundry in College

This question depends on your laundry morals. Clearly, Bill Murray is ok waiting a little.

If you’re running a tight ship and like to keep things in order, we recommend doing yours once a week. If you’d rather save money, we’d recommend capping your laundry wait time to three weeks. People will start to notice after some time. Not a good way to make friends…

Again, once you get into a routine all these will be second nature. Try different methods and strategies with cleaning your clothes. Find what you like and stick to it.

How Much Does a Load of Laundry Cost at a Laundromat

A load of laundry shouldn’t cost more than $5 at a laundromat. When you go, make sure to bring dollars and/or quarters as most don’t take cards.

At Laundry Butler for You, we charge $2.10 per pound of laundry. Simply order the service, leave your clothes out, and we will pick it up and deliver it to you clean and folded.

How to Save Money on Laundry College

Be smart, don’t overpay for lousy laundromats. Talk with your school and find out what they recommend. Talk to other students and find out how they’re doing theirs and how they’re saving money.

If you value your time and don’t have space to do your laundry, consider a laundry delivery service. At Laundry Butler for You, we’ll pick up your laundry at the door and deliver it the next day cleaned and folded.

Save time with your laundry and spend more time studying! You’ll spend more upfront, but you save time to study and invest in your future.

If you can save 1-2 hours a week doing laundry as a freshman. That’s 78 hours a year and 312 hours in 4 years – the four years at school. That’ll save you 13 full days over your college career There’s a lot you can do with that time. You could have a huge advantage over your peers.
